What communication problems can The Potomac System solve?
Potomac was designed to keep information current and up to date. The task of creating paper signs and placing them all over your building is something you will never have to do again. Potomac takes your paper signs and places them on television monitors for better viewing. The main thought is that the public loves to stop and look at a television to see what they are missing. Now with the Potomac you are able to reach your target audience by displaying important information either on a LCD or Plasma screen TV.
What is the optimal image resolution for the system?
Potomac runs naturally at 1024X768. The video setting can be changed to allow other displays to work within the Potomac System. Also, Potomac has a built-in optimal resolution indicator that informs you what size is best for your viewing display.
How many monitors can one Potomac System support?
The Potomac System can only directly connect to one monitor. If you want to display the same content on multiple monitors the user must connect through external devices to accommodate up to 16 screens in the same building.
What if I want to put more than one monitor in the building - How does that work?
When deciding on putting more than one monitor in a building there are a few things to consider. First, do you want to display the same content on both displays? If yes, then we can accomplish that from one Potomac Appliance and video splitters over Cat5 cabling. However, if you want different content displayed on different monitors then you will need to add one Potomac per monitor.
What are some causes of the degradation of performance of the Potomac System?
There are a couple of factors that can cause the Potomac's performance to decline. Files in the slide show that are larger than 500KB or have a resolution greater than 1024X768 can cause a decline in performance. Another factor that causes poor performance is a slow internet connection.
Is the Potomac viewable via the Internet?
Potomac can be web enabled so the user can view its contents from anywhere. Certain firewall reconfigurations may have to take place in order to view the material via the web. At the moment this feature is not included but can be added on if the user decides to purchase.
What type of security measures are taken to protect content within The Potomac System?
The Potomac System has an 128 bit SSL encryption to protect and keep all of your content secure.
Do you support wireless access?
Yes, Potomac supports both VGA and audio signals from the display to the Potomac Appliance. Potomac also supports wireless ethernet connections.
How do I go about installing firmware upgrades?
Potomac firmware upgrades are downloaded from our website. In order to download these upgrades you must be up to date on your maintenance payments. The user will log into our website and download the patch and then install it from within the Potomac Administrator Console.
How does the VGA connect from the TV to the system if you are using Cat5 cables?

What is the greatest distance between a Potomac Appliance and a monitor using only a standard VGA cable?
With a standard VGA cable the greatest distance is 25 feet.
What is the greatest distance between a Potomac Appliance and a monitor using VGA over Cat5 cabling?
If you are using VGA over Cat5 the distance between the Potomac and monitor can be up to 500 feet.
What happens to the system if the power goes out?
When power is restored in your facility, Potomac will automatically reboot and come back on line.
Do I have to use the marquee?
No, with the Potomac System you can turn the marquee off if desired.
What size should the logo image for the marquee be?
The maximum size is based off the height setting for the marquee. The logo should be as square in shape as possible. So, for example, if the marquee height is set at 80, any image of size 80X80 will work fine.
